Ronald Araujo was born on 7 March 1999 in Rivera, Uruguay. He started his professional football career with his hometown team and later moved to Rentistas in the Uruguayan Second Division. Araujo’s talent was recognized by Boston River, and he played in the top division in Uruguay for a year to gain experience.

On 29 August 2018, Araujo signed a five-year contract with Barça B, with a buyout clause of 100 million euros, which would increase to 200 million euros if he joined the first team. In the 2020/21 season, he became part of the FC Barcelona first team squad and won his first trophy, the Copa del Rey.

In his second season, Araujo played a crucial role in the Barça defense, playing over 3,000 minutes and scoring four goals. He also showed his versatility by playing at right-back when required.

Araujo was part of the Uruguayan squad for the 2021 Copa América in Brazil and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, although he was unable to play due to injury.
