In 2014, Ousmane Dembélé signed his first professional contract with French club Rennes. Despite being just 17 years old, he made his Ligue 1 debut and scored his first goal against Girondins. His impressive performances caught the attention of Borussia Dortmund, where he signed for the Bundesliga club in 2016. Dembélé adapted quickly to German football and had a successful first season, scoring 12 goals and providing 20 assists.
In the summer of 2017, Dembélé signed a five-year deal with FC Barcelona. He made his Barça debut against Espanyol, providing an assist in the process, and scored his first goal as a blaugrana against Chelsea in the Champions League that same season.
Dembélé stood out in the 2021/22 season as the leader in assists in La Liga, impressing coach Xavi Hernández and forming a great partnership with Aubameyang. He provided 13 assists and extended his contract with the club until June 2024.
A France international, Dembélé was part of the 2018 World Cup-winning squad in Russia with his blaugrana teammate Samuel Umtiti. He also helped the French squad reach the final of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they lost to Argentina on penalties.
