Gerard Piqué was born in Barcelona on February 2, 1987, and since that day, he has been a member of the club. When he was very young, he entered the social tournament of FC Barcelona, and at the age of 10, he started grassroots football in the first of the categories that existed at that time, Alevín B.
From there, he goes through the different steps of the quarry. However, at the end of the 2003/04 season, Gerard Piqué made a parenthesis in his life as a Barça player and left for Manchester United. Later, in 2006/07, he played on loan at Real Zaragoza to return, in the 2007/08 season, to the ‘red devils’ and collaborate in the Premier League and Champions League double.
Piqué debuted with the azulgrana shirt on August 13, 2008, in a Champions League match against Wisla Krakow that ended 4-0. In his first successful season as a culé, he became the mainstay of the defense. With a triplet on his back, in his second year as a culé, he established himself as one of the best central defenders in the world.
The season’s progress and, being one of the pillars of the FC Barcelona line-ups, Gerard Piqué enlarges his track record as a Barcelona player with 30 titles. Some trophies complemented by the captaincy since he became the third captain in the summer of 2018 and his remarkable scoring ability. So much so that he is the one who scores Barça’s 1000th goal in international competitions against Celtic in the Champions League match of the 2013/14 season.
Regarding his experience with the national teams, Piqué participated in competitions such as the 2007 U-20 World Cup in Canada, the 2006 U-19 European Championship in Poland (of which he is the champion), and the 2004 U-17 European Championship in France. (he is runner-up). His first official competition with the senior team was the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa -later, he would also participate in 2013-. He also disputes the 2012 European Championship, being champion, the 2016 World Cup, and the 2010 World Cup, proclaiming himself a winner, 2014 and 2018. After this last World Cup event, he announces that he is leaving the national team.
