Eric Garcia, born on January 9, 2001, is a classic Barcelona defender known for his immense potential. He possesses excellent ball-playing abilities, reads his opponents’ movements with great intelligence, and has an innate sense of game awareness. Garcia rejoined Barcelona in the summer of 2021 from Manchester City, having previously been a member of the Barça Escola from 2008 to 2017.
Garcia started his journey at the club at a young age, progressing from U10B to the U19 team. However, he left for Manchester City’s youth setup before making his first-team debut for the English side in December 2018, just before his 18th birthday. He has represented Spain at the U16, U17, U21, and senior levels, becoming the first Barça Escola graduate to achieve the feat.
Since returning to Barcelona, Garcia has become a crucial defender for both Ronald Koeman and Xavi Hernández, known for his tenacity and ability to initiate attacks from the back. He was also part of the Spanish national team that played at the Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
